Alternative Energy/Bio Fuels

In this age of corporations seeking “green fuels” and alternative energy sources to crude oil, many have turned to bio-fuels made from corn, sugarcane or biomass. With the exception of biomass, these bio-fuels put a demand on the food supply. By legislation, the 2011 US crop of corn must be used in the production of ethanol. Brazil, the world’s largest sugar producer, uses large percentages of their production in the making of bio-fuels. When you remove food from distribution, you decrease the amount available for human consumption and increase the price of product available for livestock and humans.

The great question is “How do we create these bio-fuels without affecting the food supply?” JAM, LLC has found the answer. You can make alternative fuels from an agricultural product that it not good for consumption. The answer is found in a simple tuber, cassava. The have identified a variety of cassava that is too high in starch for use in human consumption, and grows much larger and faster than food grade cassava. Even more, the dried cassava chips when fermented in distillers for ethanol produce more ethanol, bio-gas and bio-diesel per metric ton than either sugarcane or corn.

The Agro-JAM division of JAM, LLC has now become the world’s third largest producer of these types of chips. We are working with many farmers and adding to the number every day. If you wish to participate in our projects in alternative fuels, please visit our Investor Relations section. If you are a farmer wanting to join our list of producers, please send an email to info@agro-jam.com.mx.
